Acanthophyllia are among the most sought-after large polyp stony (LPS) corals in the reef hobby. They thrive in low to moderate lighting, low, gentle flow, and stable water parameters. Place them on the sand bed or another stable surface where their fleshy tissue can fully inflate without rubbing against rockwork. Occasional feedings of small meaty foods can encourage fuller inflation, healthy growth, and help maintain their rich, vibrant coloration.
